    Nigeria's COVID-19 Positivity Down Below 500 for Fifth Consecutive Days

    The death toll and number of new cases from COVID-19 continues to dropped below 500 mark across Nigeria for fifth consecutive days.

    The country on Friday reported additional 352 new COVID-19 cases in 7 states and the Federal Capital Territory, while the active cases declined.

    Nigeria Center for Disease Control NCDC who disclosed this via its official Facebook page said the country recorded no new death linked to the virus in past 24 hours.

    In its daily updates the health officials also announced the discharged of another 2,292 patients after recovering from the disease on Friday.

    A decline of 1,946 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours. As at Friday, active caseload stand at 23,768,  droppped from 25,714.

    According to the breakdown released by NCDC, River, the third most affected by COVID-19 in Nigeria reported 119 on Friday.

    Followed Lagos the epicenter of the virus in Nigeria reported additional 106 new cases.

    While Gombe, FCT, Delta and Kaduna reported 50, 36, 16 and 14 cases respectively.

    Others includes Oyo-5, Taraba-5 and Kano-1.

    NCDC noted that today’s report includes 0 cases reported from Plateau and Sokoto States

    As of January 15, the country has recorded 250,361 cases of the novel coronavirus cases, while 223,495 people have recovered from the disease, and  3,092 COVID-19 fatalities have been confirmed.
