The 50 new infections indicates an increase from
22 cases reported on Saturday.
Nigeria has registered a total of 254,293
COVID-19 cases since its outbreak emerged in February 2020, the twelveth-highest
toll in Africa, having South Africa in first place followed by Moroco, Tunisia,
Libya, Ethiopia, Egypt, Kenya Zamibia, Reunion, Algeria and Botswana in eleventh
place.
Data released by the health agency via its verified website shows that Imo
topped the list with 22 infections, followed
by Lagos with 14 cases, Rivers had 7 cases, FCT had 5 cases and Delta reported
2 cases.
Today’s report includes 4 states with zero
cases reported: Kaduna, Kano, Plateau and Sokoto, NCDC said.
It disclosed that 168 patients were discharged
after recovering from the infection, bringing the total number of recoveries to
230,755
As of Sunday active cases in Nigeria stand at
20,396 – down from 20,521 cases it was the previous day.
The report from the health officials also
shows that the fatality toll now stands at 3,142, as no additional COVID-19
patients lost thier lives to the disease in the last 24 hours.
