    COVID-19: Nigeria Reports 35 New Infections

    Nigeria’s number of daily COVID-19 cases went down to 35 from 100 infections reported the previous day.

    Health officials on Friday announced 35 new cases of COVID-19 in 5 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

    The new data which shows a decline in the number of infections, does not include an update from Lagos State, Nigeria’s coronavirus epicentre.

    In its daily COVID-19 bulletin, Nigeria Center for Disease Control NCDC said with the new addition the country’s cumulative total number of cases now stands at 253,540.

    The health officials stated that no additional death reported; thus the country’s COVID-19 death toll remained 3,136 as at Friday.

    In the same 24-hour span, 89 patients in the country were discharged, which includes 67 community discharges cases in FCT on 4th February. A total of 229,982 Nigeria residents have recovered from COVID-19 thus far.

    The number of active COVID-19 cases also continued their downward trend, with total cases standing at 20,422 on Friday, a reduction of 54 cases from Thursday’s figures.

    According to the breakdown, Rivers State recorded 15 infections, the highest number of confirmed cases for the day, while Katsina reported 8 cases, FCT had 6, Gombe had 4, Ekiti and Kano reported 1 case each.

    NCDC added that zero cases were reported in Abia, Delta, Ogun, Ondo, Osun, Oyo and Sokoto States
