The country confirmed 45 new cases of the
novel coronavirus on Thursday, comes after officials reported 13 cases on Wednesday.
Lagos State, the country’s hotspot for the
management of severe COVID-19 patients at isolation facilities, reported 18 additional infections.
Cross River and FCT reported 7 cases each, Oyo
reported 5 cases, Kano and Nasarawa had 3 cases each, Ekiti and Rivers reported
1 case each.
Abia, Bauchi, Imo, Kaduna, Ogun, Ondo, Osun,
Plateau and Sokoto reported zero cases in the past 24 hours.
The death toll in the country remained 3,141
as no virus-related death were added
over the past 5 days, according to a report by Nigeria Centre for Disease
Control NCDC.
There are a total of 230,530 recoveries, which
is over 90.7 per cent of known cases. Resolved cases increased by 51 from the
previous day.
Active cases in Nigeria now stand at 20,518 — down
from the previous day when it was at 20,524.
Today's report brings the total number of
lab-confirmed cases in Nigeria to 254,182, including deaths and recoveries.
However, NCDC noted that 18 confirmed cases
reported in Lagos state are backlog of 16th Feb.
And 7 confirmed cases reported in FCT are for
16th (3) & 17th (4) Feb, with 21 community discharged cases reported on 16th
Feb from FCT
Also 3 discharged cases were reported from Oyo
state on 16th Feb.
