Nigeria’s daily COVID-19 cases further dropped on Thursday with eight cases recorded in the last 24 hours, as per Nigeria Centre for Disease Control NCDC data.
Thursday’s figures represent a significant decrease
over 28 cases confirmed on Wednesday.
A breakdown of the new infections showed that
they were confirmed in one state and the Federal Capital Territory with Rivers
State having five cases and the nation’s capital, FCT recorded three cases.
While seven states: Abia, Bauchi, Kaduna,
Kano, Nasarawa, Plateau and Sokoto reported zero cases on Thursday.
The recovery of 16 patients in the last 24
hours has increased the cumulative tally to 249,154. Consequently, Nigeria's
recovery rate stands at 97.86 per cent of the known cases, the health officials
said.
Total active coronavirus cases in the country
now 2,325 down by 28 from 2,353 it was 48 hours ago.
NCDC added that the recoveries includes 10 community
discharges reported in FCT.
With the new figures, Nigeria’s COVID-19 infections
now stand at 254,606 out of which 249,154 have been successfully treated and
discharged.
While they were no new recorded deaths, the data show that 3,142 people have died from COVID-19 complications.
