The signing ceremony took place on the 7th of March 2022 in
Lagos, Nigeria. This landmark agreement is a cumulation of efforts by the
Agency under the able leadership of the DG/CEO, Professor Mansur Bako Matazu.
This historical agreement also comes at the first anniversary in the office of
DG/CEO.
The MoU is designed as a framework to provide meteorological
service for NIMASA to ensure safety and security on Nigerian waterways. The
agreement is a milestone to ensuring sustainable development in the maritime
sector.
On his part, Director-General of NiMet, Prof. Mansur Bako
Matazu, gave the assurance that the maritime industry would soon benefit from
the partnership in the same way that the aviation sector has been benefiting
from NiMet’s services.
