The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control NCDC,
in the latest update on its website, said the country's infection toll from the
disease has increased to 255,753 cases, and the fatality toll still stands at 3,143.
While the number of active cases has increased
to 2,699, the disease centre noted that a total of 249,911 people have been
discharged nationwide since the beginning of outbreak.
NCDC added that 5,075,820 blood samples had
been tested since the pandemic began in 2020.
The breakdown of the NCDC data shows that Delta
State reported 16 new cases, followed by Lagos, with 11 cases, Kaduna had 8 cases,
Plateau and Rivers had 1 case.
The latest report includes zero cases from Abia,
Bauchi, FCT, Kano and Sokoto States,” It said.
The health officials stated that this report
includes data for 28th and 29th April.
Its also noted that 15 confirmed cases reported from Delta state are backlogs from 2021 following RDT kit reconciliation.
