The new figures represent a significant increase
over 73 cases confirmed on July 14th-15th 2022.
Also, the health officials on June 30th-July 1st reported 347 cases, from
July 2nd-8th, NCDC confirmed 880 cases, 357 infections was reported on July 9th-11th
and 60 cases were reported on July 12th-13th.
A breakdown of the new infections showed that
they were confirmed in eight state and the Federal Capital Territory.
Lagos State, the epicenter of the virus in the
country reported most of the cases, having 325 cases, Rivers reported 60 cases and
the nation’s capital, FCT recorded 29 cases.
While Delta had 25 cases, Edo reported 17 cases,
Oyo had 8 cases, Kano had 6 cases, Bayelsa and Ekiti reported 4 cases each.
NCDC report further shows that 5 states, Abia,
Kaduna, Kano, Nasarawa, and Sokoto reported zero cases.
Its added that this report includes a backlog
of 325 confirmed cases from Lagos from July 13th (25), 14th (80), 15th (51),
16th (56), 17th (44), 18th (69).
The recovery of 2,552 patients has increased
the cumulative tally to 253,037. Consequently, Nigeria's recovery rate stands
at 97.52 per cent of the known cases, the health officials said.
NCDC added that the recoveries includes 2,552
discharges from January.
With the new figures, Nigeria’s COVID-19
infections now stand at 259,485 out of which 253,037 have been successfully
treated and discharged.
The data show that 3,146 people have died from COVID-19 complications since the beginning of the virus in Nigeria including 2 deaths reported on July 7th.
