Nigeria has recorded 517 more cases of the novel coronavirus, between 6th – 11th of August 2022, bringing its total infections to 262,402.
Nigeria recorded 517 new COVID-19 cases on Thurday
– its highest case count this month, overturning its previous record of 496
infections reported on July 28th - August 1st and 412 infections reported on August
2nd -5th, 2022.
The latest figure, recorded in 13 states and the
Federal Capital Territory, has raised the total number of infections to 262,402.
While Akwa Ibom topped the list with 293
cases, the Lagos came second with 101 fresh infections and River state had 54 infections.
According to the health officials report, FCT had
13 cases of the virus, Ekiti had 11 cases, Delta and Kano reported 9 cases each,
Bayelsa had 7 cases and Kaduna reports 6 cases.
Others include: Oyo-5, Abia-3, Kwara-2, Nasarawa-2
and Plateau-2.
While 5 states; Cross River, Ogun, Osun, Ondo,
and Sokoto reported zero cases.
On a positive note, 525 persons have been
discharged in the last 5 days after recovering from the virus thus bringing the
total number of discharged to 256,006.
The death tally from the COVID-19 disease in
Nigeria remained 3,147 with no additional deaths reported Thursday, according
to an update by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) Thursday afternoon.
The NCDC noted that this report includes backlog
of 258 cases in Akwa Ibom from July 3 2022
