Boston Celtics Coach Udoka Faces Disciplinary Action For Relationship With Female Colleague

Ime Udoka, the Nigerian-born head coach of the Boston Celtics, a high-ranking basketball team that competes in the United States’ National Basketball Association (NBA) league, is facing a disciplinary action for allegedly having ”an improper intimate and consensual relationship” with an unnamed female member of his team.

According to ESPN, Udoka, 45, faces a lengthy suspension from his position and this sanction would be determined by either the NBA or his employers. His action is considered a violation of the association’s guidelines put in place to check the excesses of coaches and players in the league

In his first season as Boston Celtics’ head coach, Udoka remarkably saw his team advance to the NBA finals for the first time in 12 years. Despite losing to the Golden State Warriors in the finals, Udoka’s team closed the 2021/2022 season with an impressive win of 28 out of 35 games.

Udoka was part of Nigeria’s D’tigers squad that won bronze medal at the FIBA African Championship in 2005. He also featured as a player for top NBA sides like the New York Knicks, Portland Trail Blazers, San Antonio Spurs and the Sacramento Kings.

Udoka was forced to take up a coaching job in 2012 due to a lingering knee injury. He is engaged to Nia Long, a famous Hollywood actress, and they both have a son.
