Guardiola Issues Sarcastic Response to Ibrahimovic's Haaland Jibe

Pep Guardiola sniped that Zlatan Ibrahimovic should write another book with everything he knows about the Manchester City manager after the Swedish striker weighed in on Erling Haaland's potential.

Ibrahimovic has long had a problem with Guardiola dating back to their time in Barcelona when the Swede was furious at being sidelined in favour of a young Lionel Messi. The AC Milan striker wrote disparagingly in his autobiography that Guardiola's treatment of him was akin to buying a Ferrari and driving it like a Fiat.

Commenting this week on City superstar Haaland, who is seen excitedly in Norway as their long-awaited version of Ibrahimovic, the veteran forward said mischievously that Guardiola would have to change his behaviour if he was to bring more out of his No.9. "Is Guardiola able to improve him?" he said.

"That depends on the ego that Guardiola has. If he allows himself to be bigger than Haaland or not. He didn't allow me or the others to be as big."

Guardiola laughed off the comments, responding with an answer soaked in sarcasm as he explained how he has hated every single hat-trick that Haaland has scored this season.

“He is right, he is completely right," he said, witheringly. "In this club, in this team, my ego is beyond every other person, every player.

“I don’t like it when Erling scores three goals, and all the highlight is for him. I am so jealous! Honestly, so jealous!

“I said ‘Erling, please no more goals, otherwise the newspapers won’t talk about me, and just about me'. He is right, he knows me perfectly. He can write another book."
