Roma’s January signing Ola Solbakken is yet to earn his first start with the Giallorossi. Nonetheless, the Norwegian forward spoke about his first month as a Roma player, working with Mourinho and adapting to a new reality in a recent interview with Nettavisen.
“Everything is new to me. I am adapting well, but it’s quite
tiring,” he said of his first few weeks of training. My debut against
Fiorentina? I didn’t expect to come on, to be honest. It’s a positive sign.”
“I need time to adapt, I would like to play as much as
possible but I must be patient and work hard.”
“Mourinho? He’s very perceptive. When I came here I hadn’t trained
with a team in weeks so I doubt he’d be willing to rely on me for more than
20-25 minutes per game. I still feel like I can contribute to the cause. He’s a
very warm manager, very friendly and kind. He takes care of you and looks after
everyone.”
“The only thing that matters to him is getting the three
points,” Solbakken added. “Nothing is more important than the three points. The
team is at the center of everything, those who play deserve it. If he thinks
that someone isn’t doing enough, he takes them off.”
“The supporters are very passionate, more than I was
initially led to believe. When I go shopping in Rome, I get stopped all the
time, which is something that never happened in Bodo. I still don’t know what
makes me so interesting to people here.”
