James Word Prowse’s brilliant free kick in first-half stoppage time gave Southampton a huge 1-0 win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening.
Chelsea’s woes continued on Saturday as they crumbled 1-0 to
visiting Southampton at the Stamford Bridge Stadium.
Southampton who just sacked their manager shockingly took
the lead on first half added time and defended the goal till the end.
James Ward-Prowse showcased his brilliant free kick ability,
as he hit the ball perfectly and it ended up inside the left post.
Seven minutes after the break, Raheem Sterling had an effort
from inside the box but it was brilliantly blocked.
Later in the match Sterling had a chance to score. He got on
the end of a pass inside the box and took a shot to the bottom right corner,
but one of the defending players made a crucial goal-line clearance.
Three minutes after that Sterling planted a goal-bound
header towards the right post after a nice cross inside the box, but one of the
defenders reacted superbly and made a timely interception.
On 74th minute, Adam Armstrong picked up a lofted cross
inside the box and fired a quick shot to the middle of the goal. His promising
effort was kept out by Kepa Arrizabalaga, who pulled off a stunning save.
