Emeka Chochoo, the former manager of actor John Okafor, widely known as Mr Ibu, has revealed why the actor’s adopted daughter, Jasmine, and two of his sons, Daniel and Val, were invited by the police.

Reports emerged on Wednesday evening that Mr Ibu‘s wife, Stella Maris, had ordered their arrest after weeks of controversy on social media regarding who had access to the sick actor’s account.

Doris Ogala, a Nollywood actress who shared the news on Instagram, alleged that Jasmine and Mr Ibu‘s sons were detained at the Force Criminal Investigation Department Annex in Lagos over claims that Jasmine transferred N300 million from the ailing actor’s account.

The allegation suggested that Stella Maris aimed to use the funds contributed to Mr Ibu’s treatments to purchase a new house.

However, investigations indicated that the total contribution to the account was not up to N300 million.

Chochoo confirmed in a telephone conversation with Punch that all three individuals were invited by the police concerning Mr Ibu’s account.

He emphasized that Val, who was unaware of the situation had recently returned to the country and wasn’t involved.

‘Yes, they were all invited by the police. I won’t call it arrest; the police invited them over Mr Ibu’s account. However, Val is left out as he knows nothing about what’s been happening. He just returned to the country.

“I have not been able to reach any of them,” Chochoo said.

Okafor had previously sought public assistance due to a medical emergency. He has been gradually recovering from multiple surgeries and with one of his legs amputated.
