    Nollywood Actor Sisi Quadri Is Dead

    Comic Nollywood actor, Oyebamiji Quadri, popularly known as Sisi Quadri, has died at the age of 44.

    The Yoruba sector of the Nigerian movie industry has been thrown into mourning after the news of his death surfaced on social media.

    The shocking passage of the Nollywood actor was confirmed by Bolaji Amusan, popularly known as Mr Latin, on Friday.

    Amusan who is the Chairman, Theatre Arts and Movie Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN) announced the demise of the Iwo, Osun State -born thespian through his social media platform.

    Another of his colleague, Nollywood actress, Abiola Bayo wrote on her verified Instagram handle, “You will be greatly missed, Sisi Quadri. May your soul rest in perfect peace.”

    He died at the general hospital in Ogbomoso where he was receiving treatment for an undisclosed illness

    Quadri was born on December 25, 1979, in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria. He was a prominent Yoruba movie actor, specifically known for his contributions to Nigerian Nollywood films.

    His acting career began in 2000 when he was introduced to Toyin Olaiya, a lecturer and mentor.

    His portrayal of an “insulting” personality in the Yoruba epic film ‘Seniyan Seranko’ was a significant turning point in his career. He took an extended break before triumphing in the popular comic film “Ebudola” in 2020, costarring with his closest buddy Funmi Awelewa, which catapulted him into the spotlight.

    Sisi Quadri enthrals his audience with his candid demeanour and unrelenting ability to ridicule his rival in films. He was a rare breed in Nollywood, practically unmatched by any opponent.

    His outstanding performance in the film “Ebudola” allowed him to pursue further acting and content development roles, which helped him stay relevant in Nollywood.
    Sisi Quadri was well-known for his inventive and talented acting and has acted in more than 150 films, including comedic skits. Producers and directors have always considered him for performing roles because he is a highly sought-after comedic performer.

    Several of his films have received millions of views on YouTube. Big Brother Ibadan, Ololade Mrs Money, Toko Taya with his best friend Funmi Awelewa, and many more are some of his most recent and successful films.

    He has established himself as a comedic actor, delighting audiences with his performances in popular Nollywood movies such as "Aje Ni Eegun," "Iya Oko Mi," and "Omo Iya Oko."

    The actor known for his quick jabs and quips in Yoruba movies and more recently on social media skits, died in his home state of Osun.

    Along with many other well-known content producers, he collaborated with Mr. Macaroni, Edem Victor, Woli Agba, Brodashaggi, Pastor Remote, and many more.

    In addition to acting, he owned a large store with employees who worked for him and he was an enthusiastic fashion designer.

    He also enjoyed MCing. He was a successful businessman who balanced acting and hosting work with his fashion venture.

    Quadri’s death coincides with the release date of his latest movie, Anikulapo: Rise of the Specter, where he played one of the three ghosts in the mystic epic series directed by Kunle Afolayan.

    He is survived by wife and two boys, Hazani Olamilekan Oyebamiji and Olamide Oyebamiji, and enjoyed a happy marriage till his death.
