    RECTEM Matriculates First HND Students

The Redeemer’s College of Technology and Management (RECTEM) has matriculated its first set of Higher National Diploma students for 2023/2024 academic session.

The Rector of the faith-based institution, Dr. Stella Mofunanya made disclosure while delivering her address at the 6th matriculation ceremony for the 2023/2024 session in Mowe, Ogun State recently.

Recently, the National Board for Technical Education (NABTEB) gave approval to the school’s new courses enabling it to run the Higher National Diploma.

Expressing fulfillment, she said, “I feel excited to the glory of God because there are many higher institutions that started long before us, and they have not started HND. They have not even got their full programmes accredited. But with RECTEM, to the glory of God, we are the first institution to start all Engineering programme. We are doing the right thing. Our father in the Lord has been assisting us; we are well equipped.

“We are grateful to God that the College is matriculating a total of 303 students made up of National Diploma and Higher National Diploma programmes.

“Authorities came for verification, we did very well to the glory of God and we have started HND. We have equipment we are proud of. We’ve had corps members come in here and they tell us that “Yes, in their schools they were taught theory but coming to RECTEM, they have seen things been done practically. Seeing the equipment that they saw, the photographs in their handouts. But in RECTEM, they saw them all. All the departments are well equipped.”

She warned students to shun deviant behaviour and other vices and resist the temptation to commit examination malpractices and fraud as the institution has “zero tolerance” for bad behaviors.

“As a faith-based institution, attendance at chapel activities is also part of your continuous assessment. Always bear in mind that RECTEM has zero tolerance for cultism, hooliganism, corruption and other forms of social menace.

“As we speak, two students have been expelled for truancy, indiscipline. For any student that comes in through the main gate of RCCG knows that this school is a faith-based institution and we are not going to compromise. So, two students have been expelled for now.

The Rector stressed that students with requisite qualifications from other institutions are free to apply for the college’s programme of their choice.

“Among our HND matriculants, we have students from other institutions that were given admission. In fact, they were on us but not all of them were admitted. There are institutions noted for cultism, we had to screen the students thoroughly before we allow them to join our students,” she added.

Speaking at the event, the JAMB representative, the Ogun State Coordinator of JAMB, Abdulhakeem Abdulhameed commended RECTEM management for diligence and been thorough in following due diligence.

“I must commend the management of this institution for adhering strictly to the rule of the Board. JAMB will not attend any matriculation ceremony not in conformity with the rule. JAMB admission is automated and all institutions are compelled to follow these rules.

“Our record show that RECTEM has been complying with the rules. It will not be fair to say what is not. And the Registrar has zero tolerance to indiscipline. All admissions not conducted in line with the CAPS – Central Admission Processing Scheme is illegal.”

“I’m assuring parents that RECTEM has been following the rules and I encourage the management of this institution to continue so that at the end of the day, all these candidates will have a good prospect at the end of their stay in the school. RECTEM is decent and all their courses are accredited,” he concluded.
