Tems swung by 30 Rock on Monday for her first appearance on
The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The dynamic Nigerian musician delivered
a medley of her new single, “Love Me JeJe,” and the title track from her
upcoming debut studio album, Born In The Wild.
Born In The Wild is due on June 7 via Sony Music and Tems
will support the album with an extensive world tour. Tems’ medley on Fallon saw
her accompanied by a nine-piece ensemble that included a pair of backing
vocalists.
The singer and songwriter began the stirring medley in a
slow and throbbing fashion with the premiere of “Born In The Wild.” Then the
full band kicks in as Tems leads the group through the groovy “Love Me JeJe,” a
song originally released by Nigerian artist Seyi Sodimu in 1997.
Tems recently announced that her debut album ‘Born In the
Wild’ will be released in June 2024 after almost 2 years of high anticipation.
In an interview with Apple Music, Tems revealed that the album is shaped by her
experiences of learning, unlearning, and relearning on her way to becoming the
person she is now.
The highly anticipated album has been preceded by the
release of 3 singles ‘Me & U’ which earned her a 2024 BET nomination for
Best Video Director and Best Gospel/Inspirational Song, ‘I’m Not An Angel’, and
more recently ‘Love Me Jeje’ which has garnered over 17 million Spotify streams
in under a month.
Born In The Wild will arrive after Tems previously issued three singles over the past few years. Tems kicks off her world tour next month in the UK and Europe. A North American leg starts on August 22 and runs through October 1.
