    Damilola Sickle Cell Foundation Partners TAH Foundation for "Back to School Project"

    Damilola Sickle Cell Foundation (D.S.C.F), a Non-Profit Organization (N.G.O) in the fight against sickle cell disease across Africa in collaboration with the TAH Foundation is launching a Back to School Project to give back to the indigent students of Kwara State.

    The project is set to give out gifts to 1000 sickle cell patients and 500 non-sickle cell patients to enhance the well-being of those affected by sickle cell disease.

    The foundation will also be holding a fitness walk in commemoration of World Sickle Cell Day on 8th of June, 2024 at Harmony Hub Fate after Shoprite Ilorin.

    Activities of the day include Yoga, Aerobatic Exercise, Dance, Health Talk, Sickle Cell drugs among others.

    According to the founder of DSCF, Ajibade Damilola, the foundation relies on sponsorships and donations from the public to sustain its activities create a better environment, and achieve the dreams of a world without sickle cell disease.

    “We rely solely on Sponsorship, and generous donations, from the public so any donations received are highly appreciated. Please sponsor and donate whatever you can to further our cause..” She said.

    She reiterated that the foundation DSCF combines a multifaceted approach including community outreach programs to educate the public on preventing the spread of sickle cell disease and mitigating the stigma faced by sickle cell carriers and their families.

    “The goal of the foundation is to identify sickle cell families who are in need of our services and offer a positive support system. The focus is slightly different at each level, depending on services needed, but the goal remains the same: To empower sickle celled persons and their families to make positive changes in their lives.” She Said.

    “By providing ongoing case management services via home visits, hospital visits, school visits, refreshing and sharing our knowledge base about the latest trends in research and education to pass on other stakeholders within the purview of our mission statement.” She said.

    “Providing and participating in community health fairs, mailing and/or distributing informational packers and education booklets about sickle cell disease/trait, referrals for sickle-cell trait, screening, individual/family counseling, and emergency &educational assistance.” She added.
