Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has marked the 13th anniversary of his debut album ‘Superstar’.
While appreciating God for his achievements since the
release of his debut album, the ‘Holla At Your Boy’ hitmaker noted that he is a
millionaire in “every currency”.
Describing himself as a “real life winner,” Wizkid
admonished fans to make sure they are winning in real life rather than living
deceptive lifestyles.
On his X handle on Wednesday, he wrote: “13 yrs since
superstar ! First album! Thankful for all Gods blessings. Healthy family !
Blessed life! Love God.
“Millionaires in every currency! Real life winners! Make
sure u win in real life no deceive yourself! U deserve it.”
Wizkid released his aptly titled debut album ‘Superstar’ on
June 12, 2012 under Banky W’s Empire Mates Entertainment, EME.
The album housed the standout tracks ‘Don’t Dull’,
‘Pakuromo’, ‘Tease Me’, ‘Holla AT Your Boy’, and ‘I Love My Baby’.
Wizkid left EME and set up his own record label, Starboy
Entertainment, after the release of his sophomore album ‘Ayo’ in 2014.
In December 2023, Wizkid released his latest musical
project, the “Soundman Vol. 2” EP.
The four-track project includes vibrant collaborations with
industry heavyweights Wande Coal and Zlatan Ibile.
The release of this project comes a month after Wizkid
hinted at taking a five-year hiatus from music.
The Afrobeats star stated that he would be taking four or
five years off the music scene.
He added that he is considering taking up football or golf.
He wrote in broken English, “Back in 4 years, make una papa
chop him money small or maybe five or I fit still go dey play ball now.
“Or make I start dey play golf. FiFa or wrestling b*tch!”All
of una dey craze! Everybody dey mad.
“On some G shit, I hope you mofuckas alright body mind and
soul and taking time out to enjoy with your loved ones.”
