The settlement negotiations between the Aloba family and the
respondent, the late Mohbad’s wife, Wunmi, unfortunately concluded without a
resolution.
As per the statement acquired on Friday from the legal team’s
representative, Monisola Odumosu, the court, during its session held on July 9,
2024, advised both parties to explore an alternative dispute resolution,
resulting in private negotiations that unfortunately did not yield a
resolution.
In the statement, Odumosu clarified that the unsuccessful
negotiation between the parties was attributed to certain external factors.
The statement partly read, “Emmanuel Oroko of Hillceetee
Partners, representing Joseph Aloba, informed the court that despite earnest
efforts, the settlement talks broke down due to external factors. M.K.O Orire
Esq., representing the respondent, confirmed the breakdown in negotiations
during the resumed hearing.”
“In response to petitions from both legal teams, the
presiding Magistrate, His Honour Mrs A.B Olagbegi-Adelabu adjourned the suit to
allow for the hearing of all pending applications related to the DNA test. The
court urged the parties to continue exploring settlement options before the
next hearing date,” it added.
Prior to this juncture, the legal counsel representing the
Aloba family formally submitted an application to the court requesting a DNA
test, as the paternity of the child with the deceased singer’s spouse became a
subject of discussion on social media platforms.
Nevertheless, the family insisted on conducting the test,
citing the circumstances surrounding the individual’s demise.
The statement further clarified that the family has not
officially designated a spokesperson and disavows any statements made without
the express authorization of its legal counsel.
On September 12, 2023, Mohbad, a notable figure in the music
industry, passed away at the age of 27. The circumstances surrounding his
untimely demise have generated considerable discussion and debate on social
media platforms.
