The Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) has rescinded its previously announced increase in navigational charges.

This decision was communicated in a statement issued on Monday by Abdullahi Musa, the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection for NAMA.

Musa stated that the agency’s reversal was in direct response to the directive issued by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo.

In light of the current economic challenges faced by Nigerian citizens, the Minister has made the decision to reconsider the proposed navigation charge increase.

Last Friday, the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) announced its intention to raise its navigation charge by 800%, which raised concerns among passengers and stakeholders in the aviation industry.

Musa further stated that the minister underscored the necessity for additional consultations prior to the implementation of any alterations, emphasizing the significance of demonstrating sensitivity to the challenging circumstances faced by Nigerian citizens amidst the prevailing economic difficulties.
