Renowned American rapper, Onika Tanya Maraj-Petty, better known by her stage name Nicki Minaj, has indicated a potential shift in her musical focus from hip-hop to pop music.

The ‘Queen of rap’, who is currently on her Pink Friday 2 tour, expressed her contemplation regarding a potential shift in her musical focus, considering the production of more pop songs in comparison to hip-hop.

During her recent concert in Vienna, Austria, Minaj observed the audience’s enthusiastic response to her rendition of the pop song, “Starships.”’

“Vienna, Austria, you all were truly remarkable. When ‘Starships’ commenced playing, that is when I ascertained the nature of the audience,” she stated as per Pop Crave.

“Because you should’ve seen, they were doing circles in the crowd and just having their own moment. It made me feel like, ‘Oh my gosh, maybe I should make a couple more pop songs.’”

It Is widely acknowledged that Nick Minaj is one of the most successful and influential female hip-hop artists in history.

In the contemporary music landscape, prominent hip-hop artists such as Drake, J. Cole, and Kendrick Lamar have strategically integrated elements of pop music into their artistic expressions.

On Sunday,  Nicki Minaj, regrettably canceled her scheduled performance in Romania just hours before the event was set to commence. This decision was made with the utmost concern for the safety and well-being of all parties involved. Additionally, it is worth noting that her recent concert in Dublin was unfortunately cut short due to unforeseen weather conditions..

Minaj has rescheduled a performance in Manchester and canceled a separate performance in Amsterdam in May due to an arrest for drug possession.

The performer, aged 41, was scheduled to be the main act at the Saga Festival in Bucharest on Sunday. However, on X, the performer announced that she had received advice from her security team not to attend the concert “due to safety concerns regarding protests in the vicinity.”
