The Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria has generously increased the admission quota for the Faculty of Nursing at Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti, from 190 to 300 students per academic session.

This momentous news was conveyed in an official letter dated July 18, 2024, by the  Registrar/Chief Executive Officer of the Council, Dr. Faruk Abubakar. The letter bears the subject line “Increase in Students’ Enrolment into the Faculty of Nursing, ABUAD.”

Olofintila quoted the NMCN director as stating, “ABUAD is one of the standout institutions with several highly qualified (Nursing) lecturers who provide high-quality nursing education to the students. The university has well-equipped facilities and resources, including clinical sites for effective practical training experience for students.

“Leveraging on these strengths, I am pleased to inform you officially of the increase in students’ enrolment to 300 (from 190) students into the nursing programme of the Faculty of Nursing, ABUAD. The council is confident that the dedicated faculty at ABUAD will effectively accommodate this increase while maintaining the high regulatory standards expected.”

Olofintila stated that Mr. Abubakar expressed confidence that the increase in the faculty’s admission quota would broaden access to nursing education for aspiring individuals within the community.

The Chancellor of ABUAD, Professor Afe Babalola, expressed his pleasure in the following statement, “The university is living to his vision of establishing a university that will institutionalise quality and functional education, teach Nigerians how a university should be run and raise a new generation of leaders that will change the society for the better.”

During the 9th induction ceremony of 95 graduating students of the Faculty of Nursing Sciences in Ado-Ekiti, Babalola noted that “since our maiden convocation in October 2013, we have turned out 1,420 graduates. They are not only doing well, but they are also agents and leaders of reformation.”
