The organizers of the planned #EndBadGovernance nationwide demonstrations scheduled for August have declined the suggestion made by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun for restricted protests.

During a meeting with the event organizers on Tuesday, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) proposed restricting protests to designated locations and discouraged street rallies.

“It is not advisable to go on street processions because as you are planning peaceful protests, some are planning violence,” Egbetokun cautioned.

However, Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, one of the lawyers for the Take It Back Movement, one of the groups organising the nationwide protests, rejected the proposal of the IGP.

Previously, the Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa sent a letter to the Inspector General of Police requesting the contact information of the officer assigned to oversee the upcoming public gatherings, rallies, and processions in order to guarantee a peaceful and trouble-free event.

The lawyer, acting in the capacity of a solicitor for the "Take it Back Movement," enumerated several locations of convergence for the upcoming public meetings, rallies, and processions. These locations include Eagle Square in Abuja, Alausa Park in Lagos, and the area opposite Wema Bank on Akpakpava Lane in Benin City.

The other locations are opposite the School of Agric, Bauchi; Rosewale Filling Station, Iwo Road, Ibadan; Maiduguri Roundabout, opposite State Stadium, Damaturu, Yobe State; Rainbow Roundabout and Pantani Stadium, River and Freedom Park, Osogbo.
