Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, is poised to unite technology enthusiasts, entrepreneurs, innovators, investors, and policymakers from across Africa to significantly invest in technology in northern Nigeria.
A statement shared on X by his son, Bello, indicated that
investors and policymakers will attend the inaugural Arewa Tech Fest 2024, a
prominent technology festival.
The event is scheduled to take place in Kano State on
September 25 and 26, with the complete backing of the Kano State government and
Governor Abba Yusuf Kabir.
“It aims to showcase the latest advancements in technology,
innovation, promote technology, entrepreneurship, and digital solutions, while
fostering a spirit of innovation and collaboration to drive economic
development in Northern Nigeria,” he said in a statement.
Key speakers at the festival will include notable
individuals such as the Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi; the President of
Afreximbank, Benedict Oramah; the Chief Executive Officer of Africa Finance
Corporation, Sumaila Zubairu; and the Founder of Outsource Global, Amal Hassan.
The event is described as a significant milestone that
showcases the vast potential of Northern Nigeria in the fields of technology
and innovation.
The aim is to motivate and equip the upcoming generation of
technology leaders, with a particular focus on women and youth, by providing
them with essential tools and resources to thrive in an ever-changing digital
landscape.
Additionally, the event will mark the introduction of the
Arewa Tech Fund, which is intended to offer vital financial assistance and
resources to promising tech startups in the Northern region.
