"Lisabi": The highly anticipated biopic featuring Adedimeji Lateef aims to reestablish a connection between audiences and their Yoruba heritage through its star-studded cast.

Nollywood actor Lateef Adedimeji has unveiled a two-part epic biopic titled ‘Lisabi’ for Netflix, featuring prominent actors such as Femi Adebayo and Odunlade Adekola.

The first installment, ‘Lisabi: The Uprising’, is set to debut on Netflix on September 27, 2024, followed by its sequel, ‘Lisabi: A Legend is Born’, which will be released in January 2025.

This biopic highlights the life and enduring legacy of the legendary Yoruba figure, Lisabi, whose contributions significantly influenced Yoruba history.

The narrative, set in the 18th century, chronicles the journey of an Egba farmer who leads a revolt against the tyrannical Oyo Empire.

His courageous actions result in the defeat of over 6,000 Oyo soldiers, ultimately achieving independence for the Egba people after years of oppression.

According to the producers, the film promises a captivating storyline, vibrant characters, and high production quality.

The project is produced by Mo Bimpe, Lateef Adedimeji’s wife, who is also an actress and producer, and directed by Niyi Akinmolayan.

It is a collaboration between Al Notions Studios and Anthill Studios, with the screenplay penned by Niyi Akinmolayan and Yinka Olaoye.

The cast includes Femi Adebayo, Odunlade Adekola, Ibrahim Itele Yekini, Ibrahim Chattah, Mo Bimpe, Eniola Ajao, Liquorose Afije, and Lateef Adedimeji.
