The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has issued a warning that polytechnic and monotechnic graduates who lack proof of completing the required one-year Industrial Training (IT) will be prohibited from participating in national service.

Yetunde Baderinwa, the NYSC Coordinator for Lagos State, disclosed this information during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Saturday.

Mrs. Baderinwa emphasized that NYSC has already distributed a circular outlining this policy.

She noted that recent observations have revealed that some polytechnic and monotechnic graduates are bypassing the mandatory one-year IT before enrolling in the Higher National Diploma (HND) program.

Mrs. Baderinwa stressed that the one-year IT serves as a prerequisite for the HND program.

She explained that these graduates must complete the one-year IT and provide evidence of its completion before pursuing an HND. Furthermore, institutions must verify this information before admitting students into the HND program.

Mrs. Baderinwa stated that this directive will go into effect at the next orientation camp, and any candidate who has not completed or undergone the IT process will not be registered.

She emphasized that this measure is crucial for upholding the integrity and standards of Nigeria’s education system.

Prospective corps members who are HND graduates will be required to present concrete evidence of completing the IT before they can be registered at any NYSC orientation camp.
