The esteemed British artist, Sir Elton John, has disclosed information regarding his struggle with an eye infection.

In a statement personally authored by him, the 77-year-old indicated that the infection has caused “limited vision” in one of his eyes.

He also noted that his recovery has been advancing at a very slow pace.

“I’ve been dealing with a severe eye infection that has unfortunately left me with only limited vision in one eye. I am healing, but it’s an extremely slow process and it will take some time before sight returns to the impacted eye,” the statement read in part.

John added that he is “feeling positive about the progress I have made in healing and recovery thus far.”

The 77-year-old vocalist announced his decision to retire from touring a few months ago.

His farewell tour, which wrapped up at the beginning of last year, amassed $939 million (£749 million) over 328 performances, establishing it as the highest-grossing music tour ever until Taylor Swift's 'Eras' tour broke the record with $1 billion.
