The Nigerian Aviation Handling Company Plc has recognized Mr. Auwal Dankode, a dedicated employee, for his remarkable act of integrity in returning $10,000 discovered while cleaning an aircraft in Kano.

A statement released on Saturday highlighted that Dankode, a native of Kano, was honored at the company’s headquarters located at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos for his exemplary transparency and honesty.

While working with his colleagues to clean the MS 878 passenger aircraft operated by Egypt Air, Dankode found the money left on seat No 25H at Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) last Wednesday. He immediately reported the find to the airline’s Station Manager.

Indranil Gupta, the Group Managing Director/CEO of NAHCO, praised Dankode for embodying the values of the company and announced a substantial cash reward, an immediate promotion, and his appointment as NAHCO Brand Ambassador.

Gupta, who led the management team in honoring Dankode, stated, “We take great pride in the exemplary conduct displayed by Auwal. He truly represents the essence of NAHCO—honesty, integrity, diligence, and hard work.”

He further encouraged Dankode to let the values instilled by his family guide him toward becoming an ideal leader that others can admire.

The CEO also noted that many NAHCO employees demonstrate these values in their daily responsibilities.

“We urge you to continue working the same way with very high integrity, diligence and continue being a good NAHCO ambassador,” Gupta said.

In addition, the Chief Financial Officer of NAHCO, Mr. Adeoye Emiloju, commended Dankode for demonstrating exceptional integrity during his tenure.

“The integrity you’ve displayed is not something that anyone can pretend to have. You’ve shown that it is something that is in you,” Emiloju pointed out.

The Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Didier Steullet, urged Dankode to continue on his positive trajectory.

Steullet remarked, “What you have done is very good. You’re the example not only of the week but probably of the year. My only recommendation is that please keep going on the same way. Remain yourself and don’t get carried away with the adulation that you are receiving on social media. You need to remain grounded and make a difference in the world. Stay on the nice side of the ‘force’ and your life will be good.”

Dr. Sola Obabori, Group Executive Director, remarked, “You have become a symbol of NAHCO, not just in Nigeria but globally, thanks to the reach of the internet. Your actions have instilled a sense of pride in us. In the current Nigerian economy, where the dollar holds significant value, your decision to return so many of them is truly admirable. Recognizing the worth of what you had and choosing to relinquish it demonstrates your integrity and noble character. This is highly commendable and valued. Every patriotic Nigerian will recognize and appreciate your contributions.”

In the capacity of a brand ambassador, Dankode will have the privilege of attending all significant NAHCO events nationwide, actively promoting the brand's image. This role presents an exceptional opportunity for travel and interaction with senior executives and key stakeholders within the organization.
