Nigerian superstar Burna Boy continues to achieve remarkable success on the global stage, now leading the Nigerian representation on the esteemed Billboard Hot 100 chart.

The musician from Port Harcourt, who gained international recognition with his hit single ‘YE’, has reached a significant milestone by becoming the Nigerian artist with the most entries on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States. 

His latest accomplishment is marked by his collaboration on Coldplay’s track ‘We Pray’, featuring British rapper Little Simz, which debuted at No. 87 on the Billboard Hot 100 for the week of October 19, 2024. This marks Burna Boy’s sixth entry on the chart. His highest-charting song remains the global sensation ‘Last Last’, which peaked at No. 44 and maintained its position on the chart for an impressive 19 weeks.

Following Burna Boy is Grammy Award-winning artist Tems, who has five entries on the Billboard. Tems made history as the first Nigerian artist to debut at No. 1 on the chart with her collaboration on Future’s ‘Wait For U’. 

Wizkid ranks third among Nigerian artists with four Billboard entries, including a No. 1 hit for his feature on Drake’s ‘One Dance’, making him the first Afrobeats artist to achieve this feat.

Other Nigerian artists who have made their mark on the Billboard Hot 100 include Rema, CKay, Fireboy, Davido, and Lojay, each with one entry. 

Rema holds the record for the highest-charting Afrobeats song with ‘Calm Down’, featuring Selena Gomez, which peaked at No. 3. CKay’s viral hit ‘Love Nwantiti’ reached No. 26, while Fireboy’s ‘Peru’ remix featuring Ed Sheeran peaked at No. 54. Davido and Lojay made their chart debut with Chris Brown’s ‘Sensational’, which peaked at No. 94.
