The Super Eagles have opted out of the match scheduled for October 15 after their flight was redirected to Labraq Airport, where players were allegedly stranded for 18 hours without access to food, water, or internet services.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has formally requested that both the Libyan and Nigerian football associations submit documentation pertaining to the cancellation of the Group D qualifier for the 2025 African Cup of Nations (AFCON).

According to Libya Al-Ahrar Channel, Nasser Al-Suwaie, Secretary-General of the Libyan Football Federation (LFF), confirmed a deadline of October 20 for the submission of these documents.

Al-Suwaie stated that the LFF has engaged a lawyer to compile evidence and expressed concerns about potential collusion from certain factions within CAF.

Nevertheless, he emphasized that the Libyan Federation's position remains robust.

He clarified that the LFF was not involved in the decision to divert the plane to Al-Abraq Airport, attributing the choice to the Libyan state, which he asserted should be respected.
