Bayo Onanuga, the special adviser on information and strategy to the president, disclosed this information in a statement released on Wednesday.
He indicated that the decision was reached during a council meeting led by President Bola Tinubu at the State House in Abuja.
According to the presidential spokesperson, the National Sports Commission (NSC) will assume the responsibilities previously held by the sports ministry.
A newly formed Ministry of Regional Development is set to supervise all regional development commissions, which include the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), North West Development Commission (NWDC), South West Development Commission (SWDC), and North East Development Commission (NEDC).
Additionally, the FEC approved the consolidation of the Ministry of Tourism with the Ministry of Culture and Creative Economy.
CCB CHAIRMAN SWORN IN
Prior to the FEC meeting, President Tinubu administered the oath of office to Abdullahi Bello as the new chairman of the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB).
Bello will be responsible for managing the operations and key functions of the CCB in accordance with the established code of conduct and ethical standards.
After the ceremony, the CCB chairman remarked to State House correspondents that Nigeria possesses the necessary systems and institutions to effectively address corruption.
Bello expressed his commitment to prioritizing the bureau's mission of upholding integrity and combating corruption.
