Lyon, an eight-time champion, and the rising Italian team Roma both enter their Women’s Champions League clash this week with flawless records, marking a highlight in the third round of matches.

In Group A, only Lyon and Roma have secured six points, while five other teams, including Manchester City, Chelsea, and Bayern Munich, have won their first two matches. Lyon will face Roma on Wednesday.

On the other hand, newcomers Celtic, Galatasaray, and Vålerenga are eager to claim their first points in the group stage. Austrian side St. Pölten also seeks its initial points but faces a challenging away match against defending champions Barcelona in Spain.

Manchester City leads Group D after a 2-0 victory over Barcelona in the opening round and currently sits atop the English league. However, they will be without star forward Vivianne Miedema, who recently underwent another surgery on her left knee, leaving her return date uncertain. Hammarby, which suffered a heavy 9-0 defeat to Barcelona in the previous round, will look to ex-Man City midfielder Julie Blakstad for support.

Barcelona aims to become the first club to win its group in all four years since the format's inception.

Bayern Munich, led by top scorer Pernille Harder with four goals, is heavily favored in its home match against Vålerenga as it seeks a third consecutive win in Group C. Meanwhile, Vålerenga is riding high after clinching its domestic title with two matches remaining.

Arsenal will travel to Turin to take on Juventus, with both teams having lost to Bayern and defeated Vålerenga. Arsenal, under interim coach Renée Slegers, is buoyed by a recent 5-0 win over Brighton in the English league, while Juventus is performing strongly in its domestic league under new coach Max Canzi.

Battle for the Top Position

Roma aims to draw from last year's experience as they prepare to compete for the top position in Group A against Lyon. The Italian side was at the top of their group at this point last season but ultimately finished in last place. Lyon, having lost the final to Barcelona last year, has yet to allow a goal in this current campaign.

Galatasaray is looking to bounce back from a heavy 6-1 defeat to Roma in Istanbul during the last round. The Turkish team is set to face two-time champions Wolfsburg.

Chelsea's Scoring Surge

Chelsea will visit Celtic on Wednesday, eager to maintain their impressive scoring form under new coach Sonia Bompastor. The team recently secured a 3-0 victory against Liverpool in the league, marking their sixth consecutive win. Chelsea has netted a total of 23 goals in the league and scored three in each of their victories over Real Madrid and Twente in Group B. Real Madrid defeated Celtic 4-0 in their last match, earning their first points in the group, and will next take on a young Twente team.
