The artist behind the hit song "Iyawo mi" shared that their initial encounter took place in a church setting, where Busola was not immediately receptive to the idea of a romantic relationship. However, Timi's determination eventually won her over.
In a recent interview with Pulse, Dakolo revealed that Busola felt embarrassed when he would pick her up in the branded Picanto he had won during the inaugural season of Idols West Africa in 2007.
He stated, “I met my wife in the church. I went to her and asked her to be my date for a ball. She gave me her number but wasn’t picking up the phone when I called. I kept going to the area hoping to see her again. Then I saw her one day and I asked her why was she not picking my calls and she said her phone got stolen.
“I sympathised with her and we became friends. I started developing feelings for her and she wanted to friend-zone me but I refused. I suffered to win her love. I was taking her to work to and fro. At one time, she used to be embarrassed whenever I picked her up with the branded Picanto I won from Nigerian Idols. I said, ‘Okay, don’t worry. I will shock you. Don’t look down on me.’ And I did.”
Timi and Busola tied the knot in 2012 and have since welcomed three children into their family.
