Argentine teen Julio Soler has officially joined Premier League side Bournemouth as they aim for their first-ever shot at European soccer.

The club announced that the 19-year-old defender has signed a “long-term contract,” though they didn’t reveal how much they paid Lanus, his former club in Argentina. However, reports suggest the fee was around 6.6 million pounds (about $8.3 million).

Soler was part of Argentina's squad at the 2024 Paris Olympics, playing in all four matches. He came off the bench in the quarterfinals against France, which ended in a 1-0 defeat, after starting in all three group-stage games.

He was also called up to the senior national team for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in October but didn’t get any playing time.

Joining Bournemouth, Soler steps into a team currently sitting seventh in the Premier League, just two points shy of fifth place, which could lead to a Champions League spot. The club's highest league finish was ninth back in 2017.

Interestingly, Bournemouth noted that Soler was born in Paraguay but moved to Argentina when he was a kid.
