According to officials, these tours will occur both on land and water, with the objective of showcasing Lagos and its expanding transportation and tourism industries to a global audience.
Idris Aregbe, the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Tourism, Arts, and Culture, made this announcement during an event designed for Nigerians living abroad and Lagos enthusiasts, which featured a city tour to display the city's attractions.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Aregbe revealed that the tour, titled “Lagos Tourism is Rising,” will take place on a monthly basis.
“Through this initiative, we aim to promote our cultural heritage and strengthen the bond between the diaspora community and Lagos. It offers an opportunity for everyone to admire scenic views, learn, and appreciate our rich cultural history,” Aregbe said.
The initiative was also intended to pay tribute to Nigerians living abroad and to those around the world who appreciate Lagos as their favored destination for business and leisure, he added.
Aregbe elaborated that the program aims to enhance collaboration, acknowledging the significant role the diaspora community plays in contributing to the economy and cultural celebrations of Lagos.
The statement added, “During the first tour, guests enjoyed a fun-filled experience with music, dance, and engaging conversations. The double-decker tour bus, motorbike convoy, and Lagos Ride vehicles navigated landmarks in Ikoyi, Lekki, Lagos Island, and surrounding areas.
“The group visited the J. Randle Centre for Yoruba Culture and History, Nike Art Gallery, and concluded the event with a delightful dinner.”
The event was honored by the presence of distinguished guests, including Khadijat Omotayo, the Personal Assistant to the President on Constituency Affairs, and Oluwatoyin Atekoja, the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos Ministry of Tourism.
Additionally, other prominent attendees featured Nike Davies-Okundaye, Femi Adebayo, DJs Six7even and DSF, Timi Agbaje, Kelvin Manpower, Hannah Montana, and a former Miss Universe Nigeria, among others.
