It is important to remember that Mohbad passed away under suspicious circumstances in September 2023, shortly after leaving Naira Marley’s Marlian Music due to alleged breaches of their contractual agreement. The contentious nature of his passing has led to accusations directed at Naira Marley and his associate, Sam Larry, who was seen in a viral video attacking the late artist before his death.
Both individuals were charged and detained on October 6, 2023, regarding their suspected roles in the events surrounding Mohbad’s death, but they were subsequently released on bail after entering not guilty pleas. Despite their claims of innocence, many fans continue to voice their accusations on social media and have chosen to boycott Naira Marley’s music.
In a recent video circulating online in anticipation of Mohbad’s 28th posthumous birthday, VeryDarkMan, who has been closely following the case, stated that he had offered Naira Marley a chance to utilize his platform to demonstrate his innocence, a proposal that the rapper declined.
VeryDarkMan said: “I asked Naira Marley why he is not coming out to show the public his own evidence — the business side — because he clearly owed the boy [Mohbad] some money. He told me how much he owed the boy. It’s not a small amount of money.
“He told me how much he was supposed to give him and what caused their problem. He said their problem started when Mohbad began working outside the record label’s contract and requested to change the management the label provided for him. I then asked him to come out and explain to Nigerians what transpired between them, but he said God will fight his battles.”
