In an interview published on Wednesday, Spyro claimed that Ubi persuaded him to perform at a birthday celebration in Ghana, suggesting that the payment was supposedly associated with Davido.
Music executive Ubi Franklin has responded to allegations made by singer Spyro, who accused him of leveraging Davido’s name to secure a performance deal without appropriate compensation.
In an interview released on Wednesday, Spyro claimed that Ubi persuaded him to perform at a birthday celebration in Ghana, suggesting that the payment was somehow connected to Davido. However, Spyro asserted that he never received the promised payment.
Ubi has refuted these claims, asserting that they are an effort to tarnish his reputation. During an Instagram Live session, he brought up a separate financial issue, stating that Spyro owes him a 10% commission from a car purchase he helped facilitate.
Ubi noted that Spyro had agreed to pay this commission after the car payment was completed, which he indicated was finalized in December, but Spyro has not yet honored this agreement.
Furthermore, Ubi acknowledged that he is withholding $5,000 meant for Spyro, claiming it is to cover the ₦10.5 million he is owed. On the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Ubi urged for a resolution to the dispute and advised against invoking Davido’s name in these discussions.
He wrote, “I won’t let anyone ruin my reputation. Also, stop dragging Davido’s name into your narrative to gain attention. Why would I tell you Davido said something when you have direct access to him? That doesn’t add up.”
Ubi further clarified, “You owe me 10% from the car I helped you secure. You promised to pay me after completing the payment, which you did in December. I’ve been waiting since then. I still have $5,000 of yours, but you owe me ₦10.5 million. When you calculate it, you still owe me ₦2.5 million after deductions.”
The financial disagreement has created friction between the two parties, each steadfastly holding onto their respective viewpoints regarding the issue.
