Actress Halima Abubakar has reached out for help in an emotional Instagram video, revealing her difficulties in making ends meet.

The heartfelt appeal from the once-popular actress has taken her fans and colleagues by surprise.

Halima, visibly distressed, conveyed her feelings of exhaustion and hopelessness.

“Help me. I’m tired of begging. Please tag Kogi state government. HE @alhajiahmedusmanododo. HE @officialgybkogi. Senator @natashaakpoti,” she wrote.

In her urgent request for support, Halima provided her account information, encouraging Nigerians to lend a helping hand.

Her plea has generated a wave of support, with many coming forward to offer encouragement and financial help.

Clinging to the belief that brighter days will come, she expressed: “You know best. My tears and pain won’t go in vain. Amen. Two things I know for sure: Prayers work, and tables eventually turn”.

Last year, the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) suspended Nollywood actress Halima Abubakar until further notice.

In a statement, AGN, the governing body for actors in the country, explained that the suspension was based on the findings of an investigation conducted regarding the actress.

They indicated that the decision followed a comprehensive investigative report from a special Secret Investigation Panel established to carry out an internal inquiry into the activities of certain bloggers.

"After two years of meticulous investigations, the Panel concluded that Miss Halima Abubakar was responsible for disseminating defamatory information about our members, associates, and patrons, particularly concerning rumors of extramarital affairs involving prominent individuals in the industry," the statement read.

Ms. Abubakar is a Nigerian actress who has appeared in numerous films and, as stated on her Instagram account, has received several awards.

In 2022, Ms. Abubakar made headlines when she accused Johnson Suleman, the Senior Pastor and General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministries International, of breaking her heart, claiming he failed to fulfill his promise to marry her.

At that time, she also alleged that the cleric had caused her to suffer from a life-threatening illness, a health condition she claimed had plagued her for years.

These allegations intensified when Pastor Suleman filed a 1 billion naira defamation lawsuit against the actress in January 2023, asserting that her statements were false and aimed at damaging his reputation.

In April 2024, a High Court in Abuja ordered the actress to pay 10 million naira in damages for defaming Apostle Johnson Suleman of Omega Fire Ministries International.

In addition to the financial penalty, the court mandated that Ms. Abubakar retract all defamatory statements from her Instagram account and remove any links and reports containing those comments from various online platforms.
