Nigerian singer Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, known as Ayra Starr, talked about how her time as a child chorister influenced her music career.

She began singing at the age of 10 and was the lead singer in her local church’s children’s choir.

In a recent interview with Amazing Jazzy, Starr mentioned that her experiences in the choir played a big role in developing her voice.

“I loved being in the choir. I was like the loudest child, it was the kids’ choir actually and everybody was little.

“It was the first time I discovered that I can I sing. It really helped me shape my voice and music,” she said.
