According to a report from the British Press Association on Friday, City is challenging the modifications to the APT regulations that were approved by Premier League clubs last November. These amendments were prompted by a previous legal action taken by the reigning champions.
The APT regulations are intended to ensure that commercial agreements with entities closely connected to club owners reflect fair market value. Their purpose is to prevent the inflation of sponsorship deals, which could jeopardize the league's financial integrity.
These regulations were implemented in December 2021 following the acquisition of Newcastle by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund.
With this latest filing, there are now three ongoing legal cases involving City and the league.
City is currently facing over 100 allegations of financial misconduct from the league.
