A former winner of Nigerian Idol, Kunle Ogunrombi, widely recognized as K-Peace, has leveled accusations against the show's organizers for failing to disburse the promised prize money.

During a recent interview on the 'Honest Bunch Podcast' hosted by Nedu Wazobia, the winner of Season 5 shared his grievances. K-Peace was crowned the winner of the Etisalat-sponsored Nigerian Idol Season 5 in 2015.

Reflecting on his experience a decade later, he expressed his discontent in a viral video on social media, claiming that the organizers did not honor the prizes that were publicly announced.

He conveyed his disappointment, stating, “I came outside of the Nigerian Idol platform with zero naira in my account.”

In a mix of English and pidgin, he added,  “As Nigerian Idol winner, I go waka all through Lagos, go for interviews without food for belle despite winning N7.5 million.

“They announced that I had won N7.5 million. When I asked about the prize, they said they are still branding the car. What they announced on national TV be say I won N7.5 million with a brand new car and I’m supposed to have a two week trip to Dubai. I go through hell after winning the show.”

Nigerian Idol is a reality television program focused on discovering musical talent.

K Peace emerged as the winner of Nigerian Idol in 2015. He has served as a backup vocalist for prominent artists such as Yemi Alade, Patoranking, Dammy Krane, Simi, and has participated in three seasons of Project Fame. Since 2013, he has been the lead vocalist for Bolanle Austin Peter (BAP) at Terra Kulture, as well as for The Sharp Band All-Stars, which is owned by Anesi.

K Peace possesses a remarkable versatility that allows him to blend various musical genres, although he characterizes his style as a fusion of Fuji and Blues, or Fuji Afro-Vibe. He emphasizes his desire to maintain a distinctly Nigerian sound, believing that his unique style sets him apart in the music industry.

His musical contributions include a Fuji rendition of John Legend's "All of Me," along with original tracks such as "Orire," "Gentle Man," "Dan Dan," "Ediyeawan," and "Halele."
