“There can’t be a shortage of Angels in heaven that the few here are called home like this na! This one is heavy on Uniport, Rivers State, Nollywood,” she wrote. She added, “Our uncle Coli @colu_mbusirisoanga has gone to be with the Lord. Ikoli eh dein na mu.”
Dr. Irosanga, who grew up in Okrika, Rivers State, made a name for himself in Nollywood with his memorable performances, especially as the chief priest “Igbudu” in the popular 2001 film Isakaba.
His impressive skills brought him numerous awards, such as Best Actor in a Supporting Role at the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA), Best Actor in a Drama at the City People Entertainment Awards, and Best Actor in a Leading Role at the Best of Nollywood Awards.
Aside from his acting career, Dr. Irosanga was also a senior lecturer in the Theatre Arts Department at the University of Port Harcourt, where he inspired many young actors.
He leaves behind his wife and children. While the details surrounding his death remain unclear, it’s a huge loss for both the academic and entertainment sectors in Nigeria.
This tragedy follows a series of recent losses in Nollywood, including the passing of actress Pat Ugwu, which was shared by her colleague Emeka Okoye.
In a heartfelt Instagram post on Wednesday, Okoye shared a funeral poster with details about her burial and expressed his deep sadness.
“Rest in peace sis. Pat Ugwu. @patpat_ugwu so we no get to work again? Death whyooo? God please. Rest in peace PAT. May your soul rest in the bosom of the Lord.”
He expressed his concern regarding the increasing fatalities within Nollywood, stating, “God, please protect all my colleagues, especially those I am close to. This unusual death is frightening. I proclaim life to everyone close to me this 2025 in the precious blood of Jesus. Amen.”
