Renowned TV host Frank Edoho has brought to light the ongoing conflict between gospel singer Mercy Chinwo and her former record label boss, Eezee Tee. Speaking on TVC, Edoho revealed that Chinwo’s refusal to renew her contract resulted in the label allegedly ceasing to book her for events and withholding revenue.

Edoho disclosed that an independent audit conducted by Chinwo’s team uncovered significant financial discrepancies in payments from digital music distribution companies. One of the most alarming revelations was that AfriCori, a major distribution platform, reportedly paid $800,000, yet Chinwo received only $90,000.

Further claims suggest that Chinwo’s music remains on the label’s YouTube channel, preventing her from earning backend revenue. Edoho stated that the situation escalated when Eezee Tee allegedly altered Chinwo’s original contract without her consent.

“I spoke to her husband, and he sat me down to explain that some of her royalties had been paid. Firstly, none of her songs are on her YouTube channel; they are on the label’s channel. She hasn’t seen the backend to determine how much revenue was generated,” Edoho explained.

He detailed how an artist acquaintance of Chinwo’s reviewed her earnings and flagged inconsistencies. This led her team to request figures from distribution companies, with AfriCori being the only one to provide records. Their report indicated that between 2020 and 2023, Chinwo’s earnings amounted to approximately $800,000, yet she was given only $90,000.

“From that $800,000, distribution fees must be deducted, leaving around $600,000. I saw all the documents,” Edoho stated.

Chinwo’s team reportedly hired an audit company to investigate further, but the label was uncooperative. This prompted them to involve the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Following EFCC intervention, the label was ordered to pay Chinwo, leading to a partial settlement in two installments, though Edoho asserts that outstanding payments remain from that period.

Edoho also revealed that as Chinwo’s contract neared its end, the label attempted to extend it for an additional 12 years. When she refused, they allegedly stopped securing performance opportunities for her.

“I saw all these things. There’s nobody standing for her because she’s a big star, and people assume she’s the one abusing power. I stepped in because they are my friends, and the facts contradict the speculation,” Edoho clarified.

Additionally, Edoho claimed that Chinwo’s album is featured on Qatar Airlines, yet she has not received any publishing payments since the beginning of her contract.

Eezee Tee is currently embroiled in a legal battle, facing charges of financial misconduct and dishonest conversion. The case has been adjourned to May 14.
