The 2025 Academy Awards lit up Los Angeles on Sunday, 2 March, as the film industry’s brightest stars gathered at the iconic Dolby Theatre. The ceremony celebrated outstanding achievements in cinema, with ‘Anora’ emerging as the night’s biggest winner. Other notable films, including ‘Conclave’, ‘The Brutalist’, ‘Wicked’, and ‘Emilia Pérez’, also claimed prestigious awards. 

This year’s Oscars carried a sense of triumph, as concerns about the event’s feasibility due to earlier wildfires were put to rest. Hollywood’s elite turned out in full force, showcasing the resilience and glamour of the industry. 

Predictable Wins and Surprising Upsets

While some victories were widely anticipated, the night was not without its surprises. Adrien Brody, as expected, took home the award for Leading Actor for his powerful performance in ‘The Brutalist’. However, the Leading Actress category delivered a shock: Mikey Madison, who had previously won a BAFTA for her role in ‘Anora’, triumphed over frontrunner Demi Moore. Madison’s portrayal of a sex worker in ‘Anora’ resonated deeply with voters, securing her the coveted Oscar. 

A Familiar Face at the Helm 

Adding to the evening’s charm was host Conan O’Brien, whose sharp wit and seasoned experience kept the audience entertained. The beloved talk-show host, who has previously helmed the Emmy Awards and the MTV Movie Awards, brought his signature humor and charisma to the Oscars stage.
