The Maris Trust Council (MTC), organizers of the Maris Annual Public Service Lecture series, has extended heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Cecilia Ibru on the occasion of her 79th birthday.

In a statement signed by MTC Secretary, Fidelis Egugbo, and made available to journalists in Asaba, Delta State, the council described Dr. Ibru as a trailblazer whose contributions have significantly shaped the socio-economic landscape.

Born on March 22, 1946, Dr. Ibru is the former Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Oceanic Bank and was honored as the Mother of the Day at the 2022 edition of the Maris Annual Public Service Lecture.

The statement read:

"The Maris Trust Council (MTC) thanks God for the life of Dr. Cecilia Ibru as she marks her 79th birthday anniversary.

"Dr. Ibru played a pivotal role in the 2022 Maris Annual Public Service Lecture, enriching discussions with her extensive knowledge and insights on how to build a better society.

"The theme of that year’s lecture, ‘Selfless Service: A Phenomenal Virtue,’ was delivered by Festus Ovie Agas, former Chief of Staff, Delta State Government House, Asaba.

As the Co-Founder and Visitor of Michael and Cecilia Ibru University, Delta State, Dr. Ibru continues to make a lasting impact in education, finance, and philanthropy.

The MTC further expressed joy in celebrating Dr. Ibru’s legacy, especially as preparations are underway for the 2025 Maris Annual Public Service Lecture, scheduled for Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at Unity Hall, Government House, Asaba.
