The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has approved a Foreign Carrier Operating Permit (FCOP) for Air Algérie, allowing the airline to operate on the newly established Algeria-Nigeria-Douala route. The inaugural flight is scheduled for April 6, 2025.

Announced on March 25, 2025, the development follows a high-level meeting between NCAA Director General Capt. Chris Najomo and Algerian Ambassador His Excellency Mr. Hocine Mezoued. The announcement was also confirmed via the NCAA’s official X (formerly Twitter) account.

This new route is expected to enhance connectivity, boost economic collaboration, and strengthen diplomatic ties between Nigeria, Algeria, and Cameroon. The agreement underscores the growing importance of strategic aviation partnerships in fostering regional trade, tourism, and investment.

As preparations for the launch continue, NCAA and Air Algérie will collaborate to ensure smooth operations, reinforcing international aviation standards and long-term bilateral cooperation.
