The Nigeria Police Force has launched a user-friendly, nine-step guide to streamline the process for motorists to register and apply for tinted glass permits through its official online portal. This digital initiative aims to enhance transparency, efficiency, and accessibility for the public seeking this service.

According to the detailed instructions released by the Force, prospective applicants are required to begin by visiting the Police Specialised Services Automation Project (POSSAP) portal, accessible at www.possap.gov.ng. On this platform, users must initiate the process by signing up, utilizing their unique National Identification Number (NIN), Bank Verification Number (BVN), or Tax Identification Number (TIN) for identification.

Following the initial registration, applicants will need to meticulously fill out the online registration form with accurate and up-to-date personal information. Upon completion of the form, users will be prompted to create a secure account and subsequently verify their registration through a unique verification code sent to their provided email address.

Once the account verification is successful, applicants can then log in to the POSSAP portal using their registered email address and chosen password to proceed with the tinted glass permit application.

The subsequent step involves navigating the portal to specifically select the “Tinted Glass Permit” service from the available options. After selecting this service, applicants will be required to accurately input the detailed specifications of their vehicle. Crucially, they will also need to upload all the necessary supporting documents as specified by the portal.

Before proceeding further, applicants are strongly advised to carefully review and confirm the correctness and completeness of all the information they have submitted, including vehicle details and uploaded documents.

The penultimate stage of the application process involves making the required payment for the tinted glass permit through the designated online payment channels integrated within the POSSAP portal.

The final and crucial step to complete the application process mandates applicants to schedule a physical vehicle inspection and biometric data capture appointment at a designated Nigeria Police Force Intelligence Department (FID) location of their choosing. This physical verification is the concluding requirement for the successful processing of the tinted glass permit.

This comprehensive and digitized approach to tinted glass permit application follows a recent directive from the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, which announced the resumption of the issuance of these permits nationwide.

The Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in a statement released on Wednesday, highlighted that this resumption was a direct response to increasing concerns and numerous complaints from the public regarding unwarranted harassment by law enforcement agents targeting vehicle owners with factory-fitted tinted windows. This online guide and the resumption of permit issuance are intended to provide clarity and a legitimate avenue for motorists, thereby mitigating such instances of harassment.
