The U.S. Women’s National Team will now face Jamaica, not China, in their June 3 friendly match in St. Louis, Missouri, U.S. Soccer confirmed on Friday. The change comes after China, originally scheduled to play both games during the June international window, informed U.S. Soccer that it could only commit to the first match.

As initially planned, the Americans will still host China on May 31 at Allianz Field in St. Paul, Minnesota. The unexpected scheduling shift opens the door for a reunion with Jamaica — a team the U.S. hasn't faced since the 2022 CONCACAF Women’s Gold Cup.

The St. Louis fixture will carry added significance as U.S. Soccer plans to honor longtime defender Becky Sauerbrunn in a pregame ceremony. The two-time Women’s World Cup champion and former national team captain officially retired in December 2023. A native of St. Louis, Sauerbrunn has since transitioned to a new role as a television analyst, continuing her impact on the sport off the field.

The friendlies mark an important step in the USWNT’s preparations for upcoming international competitions, while also providing a chance to celebrate the legacy of one of the game’s most respected veterans.
