The 11th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) unfolded on Saturday night in a dazzling celebration of African film and television, with Nigeria's Nollywood taking center stage. Femi Adebayo's compelling film, Seven Doors, emerged as a major triumph, securing two of the most highly coveted accolades: Best Lead Actor for Femi Adebayo himself, and Best Lead Actress for the talented Chioma Chukwuka. These wins firmly establish Seven Doors as a standout production of the year.

Seven Doors is a captivating Nigerian historical drama series, expertly directed by Femi Adebayo, Adebayo Tijani, and Tope Adebayo. The narrative delves into the life of King Adedunjoye, a reluctant ruler burdened by a generational curse. To break this ancestral malediction, he faces the daunting task of marrying six additional wives – opening "seven doors" – despite his profound love for his current wife, Amaka. The series masterfully explores themes of tradition, sacrifice, and the inexorable nature of destiny.

The prestigious awards ceremony, held on May 10, 2025, was a convergence of the continent's brightest stars and leading industry professionals, all gathered to honor exceptional achievements in African film and television.

The evening also paid tribute to the enduring legacies of veteran actors Sani Mu’azu and Nkem Owoh, who were both bestowed with the esteemed Lifetime Achievement Awards. Adding to the celebration of established and emerging talent, director Kayode Kasum received the Trailblazer Award, recognizing his innovative and genre-bending impact on the African film landscape.

As the night progressed, winners across a diverse range of categories were announced, each highlighting the remarkable talent, creativity, and storytelling prowess that defines the African entertainment industry.

Notably, Lateef Adedimeji’s powerful film, Lisabi (The Uprising), also garnered multiple awards, underscoring its significant impact and artistic merit this year.
